Shopping at Alcove

What is Alcove Resale & Gallery?

Alcove is a locally owned resale shopping experience featuring individually curated closets, vintage and contemporary clothing, accessories, art, home decor, and other unexpected finds — all under one roof.

Is everything at Alcove used?

No. Our inventory can include gently loved, vintage, new-with-tags, handmade, and one-of-a-kind items.

Who sets the prices?

Our individual closet vendors and artists generally price their own merchandise, so pricing and selection will vary from closet to closet.

Do you have fitting rooms?

Yes. We have two fitting rooms — one of them ADA accessible — so you can try clothing on before purchasing.

What sizes do you carry?

Because our inventory comes from many different sellers, sizes vary constantly. We hope to offer everything from petite through plus sizes, but availability will change day to day.

Do you accept returns or exchanges?

All sales are final. Because Alcove offers a constantly changing selection of consigned, vintage and one-of-a-kind items, we're unable to accept returns or exchanges. We encourage you to take a close look, try things on, and make sure you love your find before purchasing.

Can I put an item on hold?

Yes. If you've seen something in a reel or a story or a photo on any of our socials, call or text and we can hold it until the end of the day. Anything not picked up goes back out to the floor at closing.

If someone puts an item on hold twice without collecting it, we won't be able to hold things for them after that.

Do you have gift cards?

Yes. Alcove gift cards are available in any amount and can be bought in the store. They make a perfect gift for anyone who loves finding something unexpected.

Do you sell online?

Not yet. For now, the Alcove experience is in-store only. Come wander the closets, explore the gallery, and see what's waiting to be found.

How often do you get new merchandise?

Constantly. Because our closets are looked after by individual vendors, merchandise gets added throughout the week rather than arriving in traditional seasonal shipments.

Follow us on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook to see what's landing each week.

Do you have sales or markdowns?

Individual vendors may choose to mark down merchandise or take part in storewide promotions. Watch our social media for special events and sales.

Is Alcove a consignment store?

Not exactly. Alcove combines elements of resale, consignment and vendor-style shopping. Individual sellers have their own curated closet spaces, while Alcove handles the retail shopping and checkout experience.

Where are you, and when are you open?

6561 4th St NW, Ste E, Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, NM 87107 — right next to Great Clips, and down from the best ice cream place, Cottonwood Creamery and Cookies. There's a small parking lot with about 50 spaces.

Is Alcove accessible?

Are pets allowed?

Alcove welcomes all service animals.

Selling at Alcove

How do I sell my clothing at Alcove?

Instead of bringing us a bag of clothing for traditional consignment, sellers can apply to have their own closet or shelves at Alcove. You choose and merchandise your own inventory, set your prices within our guidelines, and we handle the customer-facing retail experience.

How do I apply for a closet?

It's easy. Fill out our vendor interest form and tell us a little about yourself and what you'd like to sell. We'll review it and get in touch about availability and next steps.

From there it's four things, and we walk you through all of them:

  1. We set up your vendor account

You'll get an invitation to ConsignCloud, where you'll enter and price your items and check your sales.

  2. You sign the vendor agreement

A short agreement covering how closets work — condition standards, commission, notice, and what happens if something is damaged. You can sign it in the store, or print, sign and scan it from home.

  3. You pay your first month

We invoice closet rent monthly through QuickBooks. The invoice arrives by email and you can pay it online.

  4. You move in

Bring your things, set your closet up how you like, and you're open.

Ask about a closet

How much does a closet cost, and does Alcove take a commission?

  • Closet
  • Alcove's share of a sale

You keep of all of your sales.

Your monthly closet rental gives you your own dedicated space to merchandise your items, while Alcove handles the storefront, customer service, checkout and sales processing.

How big are the closets?

Closets are 32 inches wide and 67 inches tall. You can set yours up with just a rod — good for long dresses, jumpsuits and jackets — or with a shelf and a rod below it. You can also have two rods and a shelf, one rod and a shelf, or a rod on its own.

Can I rent just a shelf instead of a full closet?

Yes. Alcove has shelf spaces for rent if a closet doesn't fit your needs.

  • Shelf depending on size
  • Alcove's share of a sale

You keep of all of your sales.

Can I sell my artwork at Alcove?

Yes. Alcove welcomes original artwork from local artists. Unlike our closets and shelves, there's no monthly rental fee for artwork displayed in our gallery areas. Instead, Alcove keeps when a piece sells, and the rest goes to the artist. If your art doesn't sell, you don't pay anything.

Alcove isn't a traditional art gallery. Your work is displayed in a curated retail space, where it gets discovered by people who may not ordinarily walk into a gallery. We love giving local artists a place to be seen while keeping the cost of showing your work simple.

Who decides what my items sell for, and do I have to tag my own merchandise?

You do. Vendors set their own prices and tag their own merchandise. You'll enter a brief description and a price for each item through your Alcove vendor portal — no photos required.

Once your items are entered, you can print the barcode tags on the vendor printer here at Alcove, or at home if you have a compatible printer. You're in control of your inventory and your pricing; we just make the tagging and checkout as easy as possible.

Do I need to provide hangers or tags?

No. Alcove has clear retail hangers with size chips, and tags for the barcodes. There are three ways to attach prices: tagging guns with plastic connectors, fabric loops, and stickers that peel off without leaving any residue behind.

Can I put anything I want in my closet?

Not quite. Merchandise has to fit Alcove's overall resale concept and meet our standards for condition, cleanliness, safety and presentation. We love vintage, luxury, unique fun items, decor, jewelry, handbags, shoes, accessories, art and collectibles.

The only electronics we accept are lamps (working ones), clocks, and decor. Candles can be sold only if they have a lid. If you're unsure about an item, please reach out.

Do my clothes need to be cleaned first?

It's important that everything arrives clean, fresh, and ready for someone to buy and wear. Items with strong odors, stains, excessive pet hair, damage or other condition issues may need to come off the floor.

We'd also rather clothing didn't carry a strong detergent smell — strong scents cause migraines and other problems for some people, and we'd like to avoid that. Alcove is happy to give every vendor a Clean People unscented detergent sheet, good for two loads. You're welcome to use whatever you like.

Can I decorate my closet, and how often can I change merchandise?

Absolutely. We encourage you to make your closet your own and build a display that reflects your style and your merchandise. Decorations should be removable and mustn't damage or permanently alter the closet.

You're welcome to add, remove, rearrange or refresh your merchandise as often as you like during regular store hours. Keeping your closet fresh and well-stocked is encouraged — new items and updated displays give customers a reason to keep coming back.

Can I run a sale on my merchandise?

Absolutely. You're welcome to run a sale or discount your merchandise at any time. Just tell us what you'd like to put on sale and the discount you'd like to offer, so we can make sure it's reflected at checkout.

Sales are a great way to refresh your closet, make room for new merchandise, or give older items a little extra attention. Alcove will also have a sale rack up front at times, and any vendor is welcome to add items to it.

How will I know when something sells?

You won't have to wonder. ConsignCloud keeps you updated when your merchandise sells — you'll get email notifications about your sales either at the end of the day or the next morning, and you can log into your vendor account any time to check your inventory, sales activity and balance.

When and how do vendors get paid?

  • Payouts
  • Commitment

Payouts are processed monthly, by the 5th, for the previous month's sales. You can take payment by check at no charge, or by ACH direct deposit for a $2.50 processing fee. ACH payments usually reach your bank within two to four business days after processing.

ConsignCloud keeps track of your sales, commission and current balance, which you can see any time through your vendor account.

What if I want to leave?

No problem — we understand that plans change. Your rental runs month to month and continues until you end it, so just give us 30 days' written notice — an email or a text is fine. You'll have seven days after your rental ends to take out your merchandise and personal decor.

Once your closet is cleared and any remaining sales are finalized, we'll process your final payout as usual.

Is there a waiting list if all the closets are rented?

Yes. When Alcove is full, prospective vendors can join our waiting list and we'll get in touch as spaces become available.
